About Feral Cat Shelters
Every winter, millions of outdoor, stray and feral cats face freezing nights with nowhere warm to sleep. Many people want to help the cats in their yard or neighborhood, but it’s hard to know which shelter, heated pad or setup actually works, and which ones end up empty or soaked after the first storm.
That’s why I started Feral Cat Shelters.
This site is a practical guide to keeping outdoor cats warm and safe through the cold months. You’ll find:
Simple, practical guides to winter shelters, food and water for outdoor cats.
Beginner-friendly advice on TNR and on telling a feral cat from a stray.
How-to guides for common problems, like a cat who won’t use their new shelter.
My advice comes from careful research: animal welfare groups, published studies, and the real experiences of people who care for feral colonies. When I mention a product, I’ll explain who it suits and its downsides, because a shelter that doesn’t suit your situation helps no one, least of all the cat.
Have a question, or a setup that’s worked well for your cats? I’d love to hear from you on the Contact page.
